Why the CSA is Good For Everyone

We wanted to provide a little  more info on the dry goods CSA.

The Dry Goods CSA that we are offering helps us in multiple ways. It helps us get the products straight to you right from the farmer twice a year without the added shipping cost which saves you money. It helps you get it cheaper and saves us a trip to the post office! WIN WIN!!

Packaging everyones boxes all at once saves us a lot of time and it helps us plan/set aside the amounted time to fulfill everyone’s order.

We have trouble keeping up with it all when busy season hits, trying to plant, harvest and hay all summer long plus keeping track of the animals and fixings all the breakdowns.

 We are very busy in the spring time getting the soil ready to receive the new crop seed and start haying the fields we have in hay rotation. The end of July early August we start combining the new crops! Early fall we are drying and cleaning the harvested grains and getting them ready for sale. We plan on taking you guys around the fields with us this year to show you what we do and how we do it on weekly blogging updates!  

So if we can set time aside time to bag everybody CSA all at once it saves us so much hassel and it helps us as farmers to handle our time wisely and efficiently.

The reason why we do not have set poundage for each product that you will get in the CSA box is because we do not know how many people will order and that helps us be able to give you more of a variety of what we think you guys might like and it takes some of the stress out of it for us. You will always get 30lbs in the basic box and 40 pounds in the Farmer Golden Harvest box. It will be 1/3 bread flour, 2/3 cornmeal, beans and a healthy dose of oats. With the Farmers Golden Harvest box you will also receive ½ of some less common flours, rye, buckwheat, etc and ½  pancake mix as well as our super tasty homemade/homegrown/a little strong 😊 garlic powder and 500 ML sunflower oil in a pour spout refillable glass bottle.

Rememeber this happens twice a year! Once in April and again in November for a total of 60lbs or 80lbs depending on which box you select.

We are opening it up for comments and suggestions so we can better meet your needs in the future CSA!

Having a dry goods CSA also helps let us know what people want/like and use the most by giving you a sample of multiple products all at once to try and give us your feedback!  We are looking forward to hearing what you all loved, what you use the most and what you want us to grow more of! This helps us, the farmers, know what to plant to better meet your needs and desires.

We priced the CSA cheaper than we sell in small volumes anywhere per pound so it would be well worth your while well helping us farmers out BIG time! We will be offering 25lb and 50lb bags in the farm stand. Check out our price list. You can save by buying that way.

Another part of the flexibility we love is being able to offer different variety’s and mixes that we think you would like but maybe not normally try if you are normally buying in bulk.

Our mission is to get healthy nutritionally dense food out for people to eat and enjoy. But we are only people and there is only so much time in a day so we are trying our best to get it out in a way that will benefit everyone and make it so you can get it right from the farmers!

We had the worse year in 2023 we have ever had farming. We lost over half of our grain crops due to the rain. Acres of wheat never harvested because it was too wet to combine. Some left for the deer because it sprouted on the stocks. Spring is our toughest time as we have to buy everything for the next farming season and the CSA helps us do that while benefiting everyone else.

We can’t offer people pickups anywhere but the farm after the CSA pickup dates where we are too busy with the farm. But we are happy to provide a few days a year to meet everyone when they come pick up their CSA and we are happy to answer any questions you may have for us! We are so excited to meet everyone and bless you with top quality grains and baking ingredients and we cannot thank you enough for all your support! 

We are opening up a farm stand here at the farm so if there is something you guys like a lot of you can come pick it right up here at the farm or have us ship it to you when I figure out the shipping on the website lol
